Photographer and Hood Century founder Jerald Cooper explores Black culture and modernism through his lens, reframing architectural history with images that center community, memory, and everyday life. “Through Pop's Eyes” (2020) captures Cincinnati's Union Terminal – the 1933 Art Deco landmark where Cooper's father worked his first job as a shoe shine boy, born just around the corner four years after the station opened. The photograph layers personal and collective history: Union Terminal served as the last northern stop before segregated train cars were enforced for Black travelers heading south.
