The use of 3D modeling software was her starting point, as she realized she could create limitless variations and then whittle the selection down to the most striking incarnations of her idea. Her ability to experiment without fear and draw from non-traditional design cues may be the result of a life spent traveling and soaking up disparate cultures, from the Canary Islands where she was born to Japan — where she spent a two-year sabbatical learning about woodwork and architecture — to an exploration of the Silk Road.
