"True Selves" Red Abstract By Sharon Weiner

Chairish

$3,500

Ethereal abstract with bright red forms floating in a deep red/brown color field by California artist Sharon Weiner (American, 20th/21st Century). Signed "Sharon Weiner", dated " '00 ", and titled "True Selves" on verso. Displayed in a simple wood frame. Image size: 40"H x 32"W. Sharon Weiner is a prolific contemporary abstract painter based in Los Angeles. Her work has been exhibited extensively in California and across the U.S. As an abstract painter, Weiner identifies with many of the postwar American transcendental abstract artists, such as Mark Rothko and Ross Bleckner. She creates her work by building up layers of poured acrylic paint and acrylic medium, sanding between each layer. Organic shapes meld into the deep space that is rendered by the smooth, glossy surface. The imagery in Weiner’s paintings have a nature and cosmic-like aspect, but are grounded in the non-physical realm of the artists consciousness. The forms represent her own language for translating the inner reality she harnesses and the external observations in the natural world that inspire her. “Color conveys emotion and I feel like the color speaks to me.” - Sharon Weiner EDUCATION M.F.A., Claremont Graduate University, Claremont, CA BA, University of Missouri, Columbia, MO AWARDS 1993 - Distinctive Merit Award, San Diego Museum of Art, San Diego, CA
