Winter of the Dead Dunes is a black and white minimalist landscape photograph by Ugnė Pouwell, made on the Baltic coast of Lithuania. In –26°C conditions, with harsh coastal winds, the scene becomes an encounter with weather as a sculptor air and cold compressing the surface into a smooth, shifting relief. Tonal layers drift across the frame like sedimented time: pale gradients, faint ridges, and sparse winter grasses punctuating the expanse. The dunes read as both terrain and abstractio, an elemental canvas shaped in real time by pressure, wind, and freeze. Medium & Process Created through an analogue photographic process and produced as an archival pigment print on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Baryta. The baryta coating supports deep D-max and crisp micro-contrast, preserving the finest dune striations and the soft transitions of snow-toned midtones without flattening detail. Each print is signed and numbered by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker.
