17th-century Roman Maestro Title: Still life with crockery, fruit and flowers on a cloth spread over a table Medium: Oil on canvas Dimensions: without frame 64 × 118 cm - with frame 88 x 140 x 6 cm Black lacquered moulded wooden frame with gold profiles and groove Not signed This beautiful still-life is the work of an Italian artist, active in the artistic circle of Michele Pace del Campidoglio (Rome, 1610–1670). In this beautiful still life, we can see in the foreground on the left a silver-coloured vase of flowers with handles depicting a sort of sea monster. Inside the vase there are various species of flowers, among which we can easily identify roses and tulips. In the background, we can admire two gold-coloured vases, a silver amphora and a finely decorated jug, which are placed on a carved balustrade partially covered by a pink and gold drape. On the right side of the painting there is also a plate with peaches and purple fruit, and next to it there is a large yellow lemon.
