This portrait of a man in Blue Coat carrying goods in the work of the japanese artist Utagawa Kunisada (1786-1865), otherwise known as Toyokuni III. Whether through the use of color, the subtle rendering of textiles, the treatment of the decor, the graphic choices here come under great mastery. In a traditional "oban" format, this beautiful print is presented n a mat ivory bristol board in the outer size of 48x35.1 cm. The state of preservation is very good. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history.
