Meeting in akashi is an original modern artwork realized by utagawa kunisada ii and hiroshige ii in 1864. Woodcut print oban format. From the series "omokage genji gojuyo" (in reference to the 54 episodes of genji), the 13th episode akashi. Meeting in akashi of genji with the daughter of the monk, who enchants him with her musical talent. Inset image: full moon over a pine tree on the beach of suma and the hut of the salt collector (reference to matsukaze un murasame), symbol of genji's and narihira's exile in suma, signature.: ryusai (hiroshige ii). Main image sign.: kochoro kunisada ga. Publisher: tsutaya kichizo. Censorship: aratame. Good impression with blind printing (hamaguri shells in waves, fan folds), margins damaged by wormholes, slightly creased soiled and yellowed, margins partly cut.
