$407

Views of Chefoo is a lot of four albumen prints made by unknown photographer. Prints in excellent condition, applied on a single cardboard. Caption in Italian ink hand-written on hardcover under each print. Prints 14,5 x 11 cm, cardboard 26 x 33.5 cm In the photographs four different views of Chefoo, first three were taken by a ship (probably an Italian smal protecter cruiser named ''Calabria'') the last one was shooted by an harbour. It is very interesting to note in one of the prints, the large ''Kerosine Oil Godown'' depot, located in front of one of the city's harbours.''Kerosene'' was one of the main trading goods imposed by European and American imperialists during the Chefoo concession period. This print was originally purchased or shoted by an Italian soldier who participated in the closing stages of the Boxer Revolt (1899 - 1901) as a foreign contingent (Regia Marina).
