Vintage English L.s. Lowry Print, 'Bandstand, Peel Park'

Chairish

$236

Vintage English L.S. Lowry Print, 'Bandstand, Peel Park' Lowry painted Bandstand, Peel Park in the mid-1920s, and it's one of those works that quietly tells you everything about what life felt like in industrial Salford. That characteristic bird's-eye view, the crowd pulling in around the bandstand, the sparse white background giving the figures room to breathe. Busy and still at the same time, which is very Lowry. This c. 2000 print reproduces the scene beautifully, bringing one of his most socially rich compositions into a format that's genuinely liveable with. The original bandstand was built in 1902 and demolished in the 1960s, so there's a real sense of preserved memory here. Oil versions of this composition sit in York Art Gallery, with drawings held in The Lowry Collection in Salford. Good company for a print to be in. Dimensions: W 15" D 1" H 10.5" Origin: England Circa Date: 2000 Condition: In good, displayable condition. Ready to hang as-is.
