This 1975 vintage oil depicts a singular bird nest with a trio of eggs in robins egg blue on a singular branch. This light and airy image is done in the Bistre style where a brown glaze is painted over a white canvas or board and then 'wiped out' to create the highlights. In this case it is a gesso board with texture. The attention to detail is exquisite where the artist has taken the Bistre style a step further in creating the detail interweaving of the birds nest. The artwork is custom framed with a beveled, chestnut and black speckled finish. The artist signature is Frances Cooper, 1975. She may be an unknown artist, but she was well known to me.
