Mounted on golden gilt gesso frame. Limited edition 19/75. Kashio Baba (1927-1994) was born in Tokyo, Japan and is best known for his prints and lithographs. He used etching, woodblock, and lithographs as printmaking medium. His artwork is unique from that of any other Japanese printmaker after 1945. The words surreal and satirical come close to describe his art style. Frances Blakemore lists the artist in the book Modern Japanese Prints with a typical edition size of 50. Kashio Baba was a member of Shunyo-kai Artists Association and the Japan Print Association (Nihon Hanga Kyokai). His works are in the collections such as the British Museum in London, the National Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo, the National Gallery of Australia, and the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
