Vintage Michigan Wolverine Basketball 1987 Takeshi Yamada Framed Intaglio Print

Chairish

$879

Wonderful vintage framed intaglio print. Done by Takeshi Yamada in 1987. Featuring the 1986-87 Michigan Wolverine basketball season. Yamada is a Japanese-American artist who earned his Master of Fine Arts from the University of Michigan School of Art in 1987. While a graduate student at the University of Michigan between 1985 and 1987, Yamada was commissioned by the Dean of the School of Art to create two large intaglio prints for the school's permanent collection. Yamada is known for his large-scale intaglio prints, which include techniques like etching, aquatint, and drypoint. His work from this period often reflects "Visual Anthropology," capturing aspects of American culture—in this case, the energy of Michigan Wolverines sports. Yamada's work is characterized by high-energy, swirling compositions that blend Eastern and Western visual cultures. His pieces are held in the permanent collection of the University of Michigan Museum of Art. Perfect to give to the basketball fan or art collector. This is a pre-owned item so please see all pictures and ask any questions.
