This is a pair of high quality prints of charcoal drawings done by well known artist Robert J. Pailthorpe (1926 - 1999). He was born in and lived in Providence, Rhode island. having lived in this part of the world, he would have been very familiar with whaling and ships. New Bedform, Mass, whaling capitol of the world in its day, is 36 miles away from Providence. These prints show the wonderful expressive yet detailed style of Pailthorpe. The substrate is a thick and high quality paper which has a wonderful aged patina making them look very historic.
