This wonderful poster inspired us to take a deep dive into the history of the American thrift movement of the early 20th century. We found this entry, about the American Educational Thrift organization, which seems to date the poster to the 1920s or 1930s: : "J. Robert Stout’s Educational Thrift Service was a for-profit venture selling thrift materials to schools. Stout, also the founder of the American Benjamin Franklin Society, later wrote a peculiar book in which he ranged from thrift to advice on bathing and sneezing." (Do you suppose he was also moved to create posters about sneezing?) This poster also brings to mind the "Christmas Club" saviings idea, suggesting, perhaps, that Christmas is merrier for those who have saved to buy gifts. The poster, measuring 17" x 22", is in very good condition with minor corner bumps, as pictured. Ho ho ho?
