Original signed Western landscape painting depicting a covered wagon train crossing a shallow river, accompanied by oxen, horses, and settlers against an expansive mountain backdrop. In a panoramic format, the composition illustrates a scene from westward expansion with detailed figures, livestock, and open plains. An informational inscription on the reverse explains that the painting represents the Oregon Trail, the most heavily traveled overland route for westward migration. It notes the trail opened in 1842, became a major migration route during the California Gold Rush beginning in 1849, and references the Bozeman Trail and Bridger Cut-off.
