A linocut * from Germany * by Walter Kalot (1909–1996) * Title: Fighting Roosters * signed and dated on the plate * from 1956 * on Japanese paper * in passe-partout * a high quality print influenced by expressionism (one of Kalot's teachers was Otto Mueller) *Original * Walter Kalot (born October 5, 1909 in Glatz, Silesia; † December 18, 1996 in Oberstdorf) was a German sculptor, graphic artist and painter. Kalot studied at the State Academy of Arts and Applied Arts in Breslau and the University of the Arts in Berlin-Charlottenburg. His teachers included Otto Mueller and Emil Orlik, among others. After the war, Kalot worked as chief graphic designer at AEG in Berlin. During his work in Berlin, he built a second home and his own studio and was active as a freelance artist.
