Wayne Thiebaud ( 1920 - 2021 ) is an American painter widely known for his luscious handling of paint, and brilliant colorful palette of works depicting commonplace objects that combined sensuousness, nostalgia and a hint of melancholy. Thiebaud is associated with The Pop Art Movement because of his interest in objects of mass culture, although his early works executed during the 1950's and 1960's, slightly predate the works of classic Pop artists. Thiebaud uses heavy pigment and exaggerated colors to depict his subjects, and the well defined shadows of advertisements are almost always included in his work. Artworks by Thiebaud are included in the collections of many of the most prestigious museums. The Pop Art museum exhibition poster print measures 24 1/2" W X 21 7/8" H.
