I created White Vans and Russet Leaves to find beauty in the everyday surroundings of our urban environment. This painting captures a quiet corner of the city where white work vehicles are parked beside a tree holding onto its last autumn colors. I used a heavy impasto technique with bold palette knife strokes to give the buildings and the pavement a physical, weathered texture that reflects the passing of time. The contrast between the mechanical lines of the vans and the organic, russet leaves represents the "silent threads" that connect our human industry with the natural world. By focusing on these often-overlooked scenes, I want to invite the viewer to slow down and find a moment of stillness amidst the functional chaos of city life. It is a tribute to the resilience of nature as it continues its cycle in the heart of our urban spaces.
