Wilhelm Lorenz, Study Of Lion, Pencil Drawing, 1933

Chairish

$349

Study of lion is a beautiful original drawing on ivory-colored paper realized in 1932 by the German artist Wilhelm Lorenz, also known as Willi Lorenz. Hand-signed on the lower left side of the drawing. Good condition except for a rip at the top margin and foldings. Wilhelm Lorenz (Germany, 1901–1981), also known as Willi Lorenz, was a German painter specialized in paintings of animals typically hunted as a game. His highly detailed oil paintings evoke the texture and movement of animals like boars, foxes, buffalos, and lions, depicted in their natural habitats and attitudes. His artworks resemble the works by Max Josef Hänger Lorenz. Willi Lorenz attended the Düsseldorf Academy of Art before moving to Cologne to start his artistic career. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution
