Obtained from a portfolio of works by listed American artist William Hazelton (1879-1954) who was a member of the noted Rockport, Massachusetts artist colony in the Cape Ann area north of Boston. Fabulous midcentury watercolor landscape painting of a deep blue bay harbor or cove inlet built up around wooden work shed buildings and piers with a windmill. Circa 1940. Unsigned. Painted on heavy off-white art paper with just minor edge wear, and bits of tape on the back. This is most likely a New England coastal scene, but looks equally like a rustic Northern California bay scene so would be at home on either Coast!
