Vivid and rich jewel-tone watercolor painting by listed American artist William Hazelton (1879-1954). Hazelton was a leading member of the noted New England artist's colony located in Rockport, Massachusetts in the Cape Ann area north of Boston. He also taught art and mentored many other artists. This cluster of cottage houses depicted are likely located in his area, but truly could be found in any rural town across America. We love the broad strokes of color used in an abstract manner, and Hazelton's strong skill in color blending is evident in this work. Main colors are shades of green and purple with touches of orange and brown. Executed on heavy art paper. Signed "William B. Hazelton" lower right. Image area size - 9.75" L x 8" H, paper size 12.88ʺW × 0.1ʺD × 8.75ʺH. Excellent condition without issues.
