William Judson Dickerson ( 1904 - 1972) mid century still life, 1957, New Mexico Painting measures 20 x 24 William Judson Dickerson was born in El Dorado, Kansas, he was known as a figure and landscape painter, printmaker, and educator. He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, eventually came to teach at the Institute, and worked for 38 years as the Director of the Wichita Art Association. He frequently traveled to New Mexico but was known as a regionalist painter who liked to paint his own surroundings and deeply loved the Kansas landscape.
