Signed, lower right, 'Mary B. Redfield' for Mary Bannister Redfield (American, born 1883) and painted circa 1925. Titled, indistinctly, on original card (a photo copy will accompany the piece). Born in Newark, New Jersey, Mary Redfield studied at the Art Students League in New York and privately with Birge Harrison. By 1917, she was living in Washington, D.C. and a member of the Washington, D.C. Art Club and Washington Watercolor Club. She exhibited with success including at the Society of Washington Artists (1917), Washington Art Club, Washington Watercolor Club and the Clearwater Art Museum (Florida, 1944, prize).
