Chairish

$492

Woman with Cat is an original lithograph realized by Mariano Villalta Lapayes. Hand signed in pencil on lower right margin, another signature is present in pencil in the center of the representation. ''Copia del punto'' on lower left margin written in pencil. Edition of 10 prints. Artist's proof. Very good conditions. In the foreground, a female figure on a carriage with a very big wheel. On the left side, a cat precedes the carriage. The figures are mixed with abstract shapes; the colors are lively and bright. There is an interesting color contrast between the yellow carriage and the blue sky. The female figure wears a light pink dress and she has a light blue skin. Mariano Villalta Lapayes (Madrid, 1928 - Roma, 1984) was a Spanish painter, sculptor and engraver. In 1951, he was invited by Picasso to reside in Vallauris (France) attending the Master's study. In the same year, he went to Rome with the Aragonese painters Ploud and Esteban, in where he won a high reputation. In 1975, he participated to the National Quadriennal in Rome.
