A rare Medici-style clock and pair of vases in finely chased and matte gilt bronze and griotte red marble. The clock has a removable, pierced lid with large leaves and palmettes, terminating in a pine cone finial. The lip features a frieze alternating with oak leaves and gadroons. The body has detached handles in the form of caryatids supporting the lid. A central head of Hermes holds garlands of leaves and fruit. The curved foot, adorned with a laurel wreath, rests on a square base with applied palmettes and mascarons. The circular white enamel dial is signed "Etienne Tavernier". Vases with removable lids decorated with leaves and seed-shaped handles, and a pierced frieze with floral motifs; the bodies adorned with a bas-relief band depicting vestal virgins holding garlands; mascarons of Hermes; and alternating friezes of water leaves and stems; the feet are flattened balls.
