Clock composed of a Bronze Sculpture with Brown Patina representing a Flute Player, surmounting a Green Marble Base of Sea Foam. French sculptor and winner of the Prix de Rome in 1839, Célestin Anatole Calmels (1822-1906) was a pupil of James Pradier, as indicated by the signature on the terrace of the bronze. This work represents a Musician holding a Flute with his slender Hands and wearing a Hat decorated with Feathers and a Ribbon held by a Rose. On his shoulders, a large Cape covers his detailed outfit. Underneath, a large Sea Green Marble Pedestal, whose octagonal base is surmounted by a circular molded part and a shaft with vertical flutes, containing a refined clock with a movement to be revised. ******** Period: 2nd part of XIXth century Width: 24 cm Depth: 24 cm Total height: 56 cm Height of the Bronze: 35.5 cm Weight: 20 kg.
