It’s a piece by Marco Biegert and Andreas Funk, a design duo drawing inspiration from the stories of nature. With Qlocktwo, the duo imagines time indication as an art and design object. Starting with a million-year-old slate, slabs are outlined with geometry and intricately cut with key time-telling phrases. Created by earth’s pressures, the slate mesmerizes in its shifting gray tones and textural marks. Automatic LEDs beam through the rock face a timely message at 5-minute intervals, treating you to an artful image at each glance.
