A rare and sculptural set of seven lp 276 wall lamps designed by carlo nason for a.v. Mazzega, italy, 1970s. Executed in thick cast murano glass with subtle blue inclusions and mounted on brushed metal supports, these lamps embody nason’s mastery of transforming glass into luminous sculpture. The heavily textured surfaces refract and diffuse light with an almost glacial effect, creating shifting reflections and atmospheric shadows across the wall. design the lp 276 model is distinguished by its organic asymmetry and substantial hand-cast glass body, balancing brutalist materiality with the ethereal qualities of murano craftsmanship. When illuminated, the glass reveals layered tones of crystal, ice blue and warm amber highlights, emphasizing the depth and fluidity characteristic of nason’s work for mazzega. Each lamp is fitted with two e14 light fittings, providing a warm and evenly diffused illumination through the textured glass. the modular nature of the design allows the lamps to function equally well as singular sculptural statements or as an architectural wall composition. the set is in very good condition, with only minor wear consistent with age and use. The glass remains beautifully preserved, retaining its clarity, texture and luminous quality, while the metal mounts show a gentle patina appropriate to the period. condition an exceptional and increasingly rare complete set that perfectly captures the experimental spirit of italian lighting design from the 1970s.
