Stump low stool by Studio Yoon Seok-hyeon.Dimensions: W 30 x H 30Materials: Paper (mostly recycled) and natural adhesive.1.5kgIt is available to customize various sizes, colors, heights, and even shapes of stool, table, and lampand to proceed with commissioned works. The recycled paper materials compose structures and covered with a number of paper layers with anatural glue.Shapes can be random or regular depends on how they are knotted with paper strips. These objects are not water/stain-proof.Recreated symbolic tree stumps made of only-paper deliver the value and stories of paperresources in our everyday life. This project is aimed not only for a one-time use of design objects created with recycled paper but also for sustainable uses and pollution-free discharge of the materials after their servicelife. The objects are composed with only-paper without any extra materials and chemical bindersso they can go back to the ground naturally or can be reutilized easily and simply. To actualize thisconcept, Studio Yoon Seok-hyeon has investigated paper materials and natural adhesives. Newmethods to use the materials have been developed and proper durability and structureshave been achieved by testing them. Light stumps reveal the potential of recycled paper materials by composing our space with its practicality and aesthetic.Seok-hyeon YoonI enjoy revaluing materials and objects which are always around us.Surroundings of everyday life often become a starting point for my design projects. I observeand analyze them and then try to link them to design, environment, society, and industry. My interest in projects is the materiality and socio-cultural value of design objects. With thisinterest, each of my projects reflects undiscovered stories of human life. As a designer, I interpret them with my own perspective and create objects to support andenhance our everyday life.My design process follows concept arrangement based on exploring a subject, in-depth researchfor materiality and contexts, hands-on practice such as drawing and model making and production.
