Swedish Modern wall lamp with a distinctly devotional character, produced in Sweden during the 1930s. The lamp features a sculptural figure of the Virgin Mary in patinated brass mounted before a curved backplate with an inset panel of textured frosted glass. The combination of ecclesiastical imagery and restrained Scandinavian Modernist design creates a striking and unusual expression characteristic of the period. Executed in solid brass with a beautifully aged surface showing natural patina and oxidation acquired over time. The softly textured raw glass diffuses the light with a warm atmospheric glow, while the sculptural figure adds depth and presence to the design. An exceptionally well-crafted piece of high quality with strong Art Deco and Swedish Grace influences.
