Wall Light By Jean-Louis Domecq For Jieldé

Chairish

$791

The French lighting company Jieldé was born from an idea of the head of the Lionese industrial workshop Jean Louis Domecq (1920-1983). Towards the end of the 1940s Domecq was looking for robust and adjustable light sources to equip the workstations of its structure. Frustrated by the options available, he decided to design his appliance with a multi-nomine articulated arm embedded in a super robust construction. At the beginning of the 1950s, Domecq launched the Jieldé company to produce table versions, from the ground and the wall of its lamp system. This work lamp has impressed design experts from all over the world, including Sir Terence Conran, who wrote in his book Lamps & Lighting that "Jieldé's ingenuity is in its electrical circuit, which simply consists of built -in metal records in the hinges. This means that the lamp can be moved in any direction without breaking a thread. " In other words, the Jieldé lamp is seen as "the form follows the function" in its best form. Today different models of jieldé lamps are known as standard, loft, signal and lak. The company also produces suspension lamps. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution, European Plug (up to 250V).The wiring of this item may be original and might need replacement, if not specified otherwise.
