The Song screen by Charles Constantine of Bestcase is a more striking, modern take on the Eames’s iconic 1946 FSW screen. Made from mirror-polished aluminum, it also subverts the idea of traditional folding screens, once adorned with mythological depictions or historical narratives, by mirroring the present rather than reflecting on the past. The screen is fully customizable - panels can be added or taken away, with your choice of finish (a powder coated version of the screen is priced at $7,080).The Song Screen is part of Sight Unseen's first-ever furniture collection, creative directed by Sight Unseen founders Monica Khemsurov and Jill Singer and produced in collaboration with Bestcase, a Long Island furniture brand specializing in sheet metal. For the collection, Sight Unseen commissioned four international designers to create five works, all rendered in various types of metal. The full edition is meant for both the contract and residential market. The aim of the collection is to showcase the possibilities of industrially produced metal through designs that channel Sight Unseen’s preference for works that are simple yet visually striking. With their metal profiles softened by curvaceous geometries, contrasting materials, and playful colors, all five pieces could feel at home in any living room or hotel suite.
