(Industria Salotti e Arredamenti) was founded in Ponte San Pietro, a village on the outskirts of the ancient city of Bergamo, most likely in the late 1940s. The company first attracted (international) attention by producing a number of designs by Gio Ponti and by advertising their other models in leading magazines like Domus. The company grew quickly: by the mid-1950s ISA had become a household name in Italian furniture manufacturing, employing about 400 people. Apart from Ponti's models, the company executed furniture of several other designers as well, like: Veronesi, Fiori and Morbelli. And around 1960 ISA acquired the licenses to produce the Sheriff chair by Sergio Rodrigues and the Holmenkollen chair by Arne Tidemand Ruud as well.
