Lava mirror by Andredottir & BobekDimensions: W 130 x H 70 cmMaterials: Mirror with aluminumThe lava mirror is handcrafted and one of a kind.It is first shaped in vax and is subsequently cire perdue casted in aluminum which looks like floating lava islands. The mirror imitates a volcanos process when it’s active where lava flows and makes a pattern that is different each time. The mirror is an organically shaped wall sculpture there embody the surface of lava which imitates an lava landscape and is a mapping of a volcano in Iceland.Our artworks focus on material study, design language, object, and function. We believe that our work can contribute to society and raise socialawareness of material research in design, art, and architecture. We believe that our work can contribute to engaging artworks that createless waste and focus on high quality and sustainability in objects. We believe that our works can push ourselves and others to question the definition of objects by using modern material research in hand-built shapes and structures.We see ourselves as an art and design generation of material researchers. Our works aim to explore how objects and materials are used today inproducts and how we can cross the borders and use materials to their full potential.
