This dramatic and bold mirror is intended to be used either as a focal point in front of a wall or window or as a sculptural room divider. Suspended from the ceiling by metal rods, it is made of a one-way mirror. While one side offers a slightly dark-hued mirror, the other side appears to be grey-tinted glass. The mirror attaches to the ceiling with a rectangular brushed brass plate that can either be covered by plaster or exposed. A One-way mirror is a reciprocal mirror that appears reflective on one side and transparent on the other. The perception of one-way transmission is achieved when one side of the mirror is brightly lit and the other side is dark. This allows viewing from the darkened side but not vice versa. Each piece is designed and hand-produced by Coil + Drift, a lauded New York's Catskill Mountains-based design studio known for its vividly three-dimensional and material-forward collections.
