Mid-19th Century French Empire Painted Tabernacle Wall Cabinet

Chairish

$1,120

Decorate a wall or tabletop with this elegant antique tabernacle cabinet, crafted in France circa 1860. Originally used in a church or chapel, the petite vitrine features a domed top crowned with a molded cap, above a single door flanked by turned columns. The façade is centered with an arched raised panel, adding depth and architectural presence to the compact form. The door opens to reveal a simple interior cavity, ideal for discreet storage or the display of a small collection. The piece retains its key and working lock. The surface is finished in a softly aged beige patinated paint, complemented by warm wood accents at the moldings and columns, creating a balanced and timeworn aesthetic. The antique cabinet is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with light wear consistent with its ecclesiastical origin. Versatile in scale, it can be hung or placed on a console, and works beautifully in a powder room, hallway, or layered into a collected interior. Dimensions: 21.5"W x 13.5"D x 26.5"H
