An enormous Maison Baguès-style sconce from circa 1960 France, featuring gilded iron scrolled arms rising from an urn represented in cast glass. The sconce is characterized by stylized botanical elements of romantic and playful Neoclassical themes with each leaf and flower having crystal embellishments over the metal. Seven bobeches are mounted on fluted glass collars which have incredible texture and depth from silver-gilt on the back and faux black foxing to suggest antique mirror. The curvaceous urn is lightly decorated with "faceted" bands that enhance the luminous mercury glass effect from the silver leaf for a wonderful study in mixed metals. No restoration work has been done which means this sculptural fixture could be rewired and installed or enjoyed for candles. Please view the detailed images to see more.
