Nolwa reimagines traditional craft forms with contemporary perspectives. Our first collection is inspired by Bidri, a 600-year-old metal inlay craft form of India, featuring a mystical patination process.The Horizon Lamp was developed working alongside craftsmen and a designer, as an exploration of how Bidri would interact with an organic form-based sensibility. We invited Ammar Kalo, a designer with a unique approach to organic forms and joinery, to reimagine Bidri.The Horizon Lamp integrates Bidri inlay into its contemporary form, transforming the craft into an essential element of its lighting function, beyond adornment. Offset by the deep hue and with the lamp’s sunken light source, the brass work glistens, adding to the soft glow.
