Newly wired and ready for installation. a refined set of three italian wheat-sheaf wall sconces based on roberto lotti’s celebrated late-20th-century designs. This example is a later production (post-2010), manufactured by the lotti company and faithful to the original model that helped define italian gilt iron lighting of the 1970s. each sconce is composed as a stylized sheaf of wheat — elongated stems gathered tightly at the base and flaring upward into crisply defined grain heads. The silhouette is vertical and symmetrical, giving the design an architectural clarity, while the organic wheat motif softens the form with subtle movement and texture. The gilt finish has a warm satin tone rather than a bright brassy shine, allowing the surface modeling to read clearly when illuminated. the spiga di grano (wheat) motif carries long-standing symbolism of abundance and prosperity and became a signature element of italian decorative lighting during the hollywood regency revival of classical forms. Lotti’s interpretation is restrained and balanced — less ornate than rococo-inspired versions, more refined than many later interpretations — which explains the model’s lasting appeal.
