Maris takes its name from the Latin for sea — and its form from coral. The lamp's body is an openwork structure in polished brass, where each cut and curve follows the branching logic of a coral formation. The pattern is intricate without being decorative: it serves the light, not the other way around.When lit, Maris projects a web of shadows across the surrounding wall — a second pattern, larger and softer than the brass itself, that shifts as the light warms. The effect is architectural: the lamp reshapes the surface it sits on, turning a flat wall into something with movement and depth.Unlit, the piece reads as a sculptural relief. The openwork structure catches ambient light at different depths, giving it presence even in daylight.
