Mid-Century Italian Chrome Sconces Attributed To Sciolari, 1970s, Set Of 2

Chairish

$1,127

Two sets, each consisting of a pair of stunning and minimalist wall sconces produced by the historic Italian lighting company “SCIOLARI.” These four sconces can be confidently dated to the 1970s and feature a clean, tubular design that strongly recalls the pieces designed by Gio Ponti for Candle in the 1960s. The two rods that conceal the bulb holder are mounted onto an elongated rectangular backplate, which is in turn fixed to a secondary plate that hides the wall attachment and electrical wiring. The interplay of geometric solids in varying dimensions creates a perfectly balanced composition in the design of these sconces. Thanks also to their chrome finish, they almost dematerialize, reflecting their surroundings like a mirror. For the photographs, we have fitted chrome reflect filament bulbs, which appear almost as a natural extension of the fixture, though standard white bulbs can of course be used as well. The lamps works and they are in good vintage conditions. Their surfaces have been thoroughly cleaned and polished using a specific product. They show minimal sign of use and age. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution, European Plug (up to 250V).The wiring of this item may be original and might need replacement, if not specified otherwise.
