A pair of grand, 19th-century French gilt bronze (ormolu) four-branch wall sconces, crafted in the Louis XVI style, and attributed to have been made after a model by the renowned bronzier Beurdeley. The ornate design features a decorative backplate resembling a tied ribbon and a hung rose wreath at the top, from which a central stem descends. Four scrolling, foliate-decorated arms extend outwards, each terminating in a nozzle and drip-pan designed to hold a candle-style. Beurdeley refers to a dynasty of three highly prestigious Parisian furniture makers, ebenistes, and bronzerswho operated from 1818 until 1895. They were especially renowned for the exceptional quality and refinement of their gilt-bronze (ormolu) mounts. Dimensions H 51" x W 10" x D 6".
