Produced by Philips and attributed to Louis Kalff, these Model NWS 33 wall sconces are constructed from flat enameled metal panels arranged in an interlocking cruciform configuration. Orange panels dominate the forward-facing surfaces, with white enameled panels extending at right angles to create a layered, three-dimensional geometric form. The construction is entirely rectilinear — no curves, no ornamentation — relying on panel geometry and color contrast for visual impact. Priced individually; also available in Gray, listed separately.Louis Kalff served as head of Philips' art direction and lighting design department for decades, overseeing some of the most architecturally influenced lighting produced by the company in the postwar period. The NWS 33 reflects the broader Dutch Mid-Century interest in industrially produced objects with strong graphic identities, aligning form with manufacturing efficiency. Philips' capacity for high-volume enamel production made bold, consistent color application across their lighting line a practical as well as aesthetic choice. Gray version also available (please inquire). The sconces show minor wear consistent with age and use.
