Vintage Glass Sconces By Per Lutken For Holmegaard, 1970s, Set Of 2

Chairish

$2,031

These two glass wall sconces, designed by Per Lütken for Holmegaard in the 1970s, are distinguished by their soft form and artistic character, typical of Scandinavian design of that period. Each wall lamp has a rounded, slightly irregular shape resembling a drop or a shell. They are made of thick, transparent glass, inside which decorative, flowing patterns in shades of amber, bronze, and red are embedded. These swirling, almost painterly forms give them a unique look—no two pieces are identical. When lit, the wall lamps provide soft, diffused lighting that highlights the depth and texture of the embedded colors. The design combines functionality with decorative appeal—it is not only a source of light but also a striking element of vintage-style interior design, characteristic of Danish design from the 1970s. Per Lütken was one of Denmark’s most important glass designers and was associated with Holmegaard for over 40 years. He designed over 3,000 glass forms, making him one of the most prolific designers in the field. Holmegaard is one of the oldest and most prestigious glassworks in Denmark. It was founded in 1825 and quickly became a symbol of Danish craftsmanship at the highest level.
