A pair of Qing Dynasty elmwood Kang compound wardrobes from the Zhejiang region of China. These are diminutive sized rectangular form wardrobes, which consists of a cabinet beneath a small hat chest. The classically hinged doors are secured by moon-shaped lock plates and pins, which open to a shelved interior with two drawers. These cabinets’ clean lines contrast gracefully with their delicately carved aprons and single drawer with bud-shaped pulls. These twin cabinets were masterfully handcrafted with tenon and mortise joinery. They were sourced from a dealer in Hong Kong and comes with a certificate of antiquity.
