Cassina, sculptural walnut rocking lounge chairs model 572 with ivory Kalgan lambskin channeled cushions on Pirelli webbing, Italy, 1955. These exquisite modernist rocking chairs have exquisite detailing throughout including finely carved walnut frames with including sharp wingbacks and gently sculpted curved armrests. Truly an iconic midcentury design, these chic lounge rocking chairs are not only comfortable, but make quite a bold statement especially as a rare pair in any interior. Fully restored with new channeled cushions upholstered in luxurious ivory or natural Kalgan lambskin or lamb fur.Price is for each rocking lounge chair.Salvatore Licitra at the Gio Ponti Archives has suggested the present model of rocking chair was designed by Cassina’s Studio Tecnico. Throughout his career, Gio Ponti maintained an intense and fruitful relationship with Cassina, the Italian furniture manufacturer. This incredibly chic rocking chair model has undeniable similarities to a lounge chair designed by Gio Ponti for Cassina in the 1950s. Both chairs were produced in walnut and have pronounced wingbacks, slotted side rails, webbed seats, and carved arms.
