Store Item: Important 18th Century Philadelphia Queen Anne Wing/Easy Chair Circa 1740 Description: An Important 18th Century Queen Anne Wing/Easy Chair. Circa 1740. Cabriole legs, beaded edges, rounded pad feet and "C" roll arms. American black walnut with unusual curved flat stretchers. Back legs are in red oak and frame in yellow pine. Original frame and finish with NO alterations. Philadelphia continued to use "C" scroll arms in this period. Custom zipper cover to expose the bones of the chair. A fine and exceptional chair. Provenance: Acquired from the collection of Isabelle Resor Davidson in 2002. She acquired it from Mathew Houston, descendant of Colonel Dave Watson Houston (1827-1915). Colonel Houston acquired the chair from his parents, John and Grace (McCall) Houston, Lancaster, PA natives, where they acquired the chair.
