An antique garden chair, made of cast iron. On the seat there’s a ”stone fabric” mosaic, made with marbles capable of creating a smooth surface, similar to that of a fabric. She moved to italy, to study the mosaic at the academy of fine arts in ravenna. The concept behind her body of work, is to reproduce with mosaic the textures of different kinds of material. Through the use of mosaic, she re-enacts the appearance and volume of wood or fabric, briefly deceiving the viewer's eye which, once touched the work, realizes it’s not what it seemed to be. This creates a particular kind of “imbalance” between what the viewers feel and what they see, creating surprise and amusement — the latter being a very important element, that must be present in the work.
