19th Century Gentleman's Library Chair Restored In Axis Deer Hide And Chesterfield Leather

Chairish

$3,688

19th century gentleman's library chair fully restored with real Axis deer hide and Chesterfield oil-tanned leather. The base chair is hand-carved antique from late 1800s. Armrests carved in the form of the lion head, front feet are shaped as paws with claws. There are casters under the front legs. The chair was fully stripped of all prior upholstery, tacking strips rebuilt, seat base and backrest re-webbed and new springs sewn in and tied by hand. Original horsehair stuffing was retained for authenticity, then covered with the new padding and finished with the Axis deer hide and cow leather. Brass tacks complete the piece. Chesterfield is the classic "pull-up" upholstery hide, meaning that it surface absorbs creases to give it a beautiful distressed look. Chesterfield is an oil-tanned leather, meaning when the leather is worked the oils, which give the hide its color, move from one area to another achieving a beautiful vintage look. It is made of top quality German hides.
