An over 150 year old arm chair. Incredible that Thonet's Bentwood Furniture design is still held in the highest regard today, imitated world over. Michael Thonet developed a method in the mid-19th century that allowed beechwood rods to be bent into curved shapes, which became the framework for his bentwood furniture. BUT this is no imitation, this is one of the Thonet company's original designs and iterations. Note the carved stamp that resides underneath the chair "between" the habitants legs. Top notch caning. Yes of course 165-year-old wood has some nicks, blemishes, and uneven coloring - but that is only adding to the incredible character. One of the best uses I've seen is placing in a corner or at a bedside room with a stack of books. Showcase this delight! I have two listed.
